“Acid Deposition Monitoring Network in East Asia (EANET) National Awareness Workshop in Myanmar”

The opening ceremony of the “Acid Deposition Monitoring Network in East Asia (EANET) National Awareness Workshop” jointly organized by Acid Deposition Monitoring Network in East Asia (EANET) and Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, Ministry of Transport and Communications was held at (09:00) AM on 24th February 2020 at Hotel Royal Aster, Nay Pyi Taw.

Union Minister U Thant Sin Maung for Ministry of Transport and Communications delivered the Welcome Remarks. Secretary of the Acid Deposition Monitoring Network in East Asia-EANET Mr. Tomi Haryadi delivered the Opening Remarks.

The objective of the workshop is to facilitate sharing and learning platform and to increase understanding on issues related to the prevention of air pollution, and increase knowledge and understanding of workshop participants in managing air quality in their work.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Union Ministers for the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Deputy Ministers for the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, Permanent Secretaries for the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, and, the Ministry of Education, Head of Departments, Representative from EANET, Government Officials, Academicians, Non-government organizations and private sectors. A total of about 60 delegates and participants were attended.

During the workshop, the Experts from EANET and invited participants will make the presentation and discussion on the current status and development of acid deposition and air pollution monitoring activities in EANET member countries, effects of climate change on acid deposition and air pollution, group discussion on the current situation, challenges and effective implementation for mitigation of air pollution. The workshop will continue to be held till 25th February 2020.
