BAY INFERENCEAccording to the observations at 05:30 hrs MST today, the Low Pressure Area over the Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal become less marked. Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal, weather is a few cloud over the North Bay of Bengal ‌and partly cloudy to cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 17th May 2026: Weather will be partly cloudy in Magway Region, Chin and Kayah States. Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Naypyitaw, Mandalay,  Lower Sagaing Regions and Rakhine State, scattered in Upper Sagaing Region & Kachin, Shan States, fairly widespread in Bago, Ayeyarwady Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Mandalay. Taninthayi Regions and  Mon, Northern Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph. Wave height will be about 7-9 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet in off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuations of increase of rain in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States.
