SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region and Kachin, Kayah, Chin States, scattered in Magway Region and Rakhine, Eastern Shan States, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region and Kayin, (Northern and Southern) Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Bago Region. Day temperature 3°C above May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Eastern Shan States 2°C above May average temperatures Lower Sagaing Region and Chin, Rakhine, Northern Shan States and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were 41.5°C in Yeu, 40.2°C in Nyaung Oo, 39.2°C each in Gangaw and Sinbyugyun, 38.9°C in Myinmu, 38.0°C each in Pakokku, Mingin, Monywa and 37.8°C in Tada U(Avia-Met) and Minbu on 27-5-2026. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 3.86 inches in Tharrawady, 2.24 inches in Maubin, 1.94 inches in Labutta, 1.90 inches in Lemyethna, 1.69 inches in Ngathaichaung, 1.55 inches in Okpho, 1.46 inches in Kyeikkhame, 1.38 inches in Myaungmya and 1.34 inches each in Zaung Tu and Phyarpon. 

BAY INFERENCESouthwest monsoon has advanced into the Central Myanmar areas and Northeast Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea, South Bay, Eastcentral and Northeast Bay of Bengal. Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

 

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 29th May 2026: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Upper Sagaing Region and Chin State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kachin, Northern Shan States, fairly widespread in Kayah, Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is 100%.

 THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 25-30 mph. Wave height will be about 7-9 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet off and along Rakhine Coast.
