Depression Condition

          According to the observations at 10:30 hrs MST today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal- North Odisha coasts, India has moved Northwestwards and intensify into a Depression over the coastal West Bengal, india and adjoining areas of Bangladesh, Northwest Bay of Bengal. It is centered at about 340 miles Northwest of Sittwe (Myanmar), 30 miles Northwest of Canning and 5 miles Southwest of Kolkata, India.

It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Depression is coded as yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

The Depression is located at Latitude 22.5 degree North and Longitude 88.3 degree East, centre pressure of Depression is 1000 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 30 miles per hour at 10:30 hrs MST today.

Next 24 hours forecast

          It is likely continue to move Northwestwards and may cross West Bengal and Jharkhand, india during next 24 hours. Occasional squalls with rough sea will be experienced of and along in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 35 mph. Wave height will be about 9-11 feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts.
