BAY BULLETIN

ISSUED ON : 24 – 5 – 2024 AT: 11:00 hrs M.S.T

AURORA :

PART ONE : According to the observations at (09:30) hrs M.S.T today, the well marked low pressure area over Westcentral Bay and adjoining South Bay of Bengal has moved Northeastwards and intensified into a depression over Central Bay of Bengal. It is centered at about within half degree of 15.0 °N and 88.4°E. It is likely continue to move initially Northestwards and further intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal on 25-5-2024 morning. Thereafter it is likely continue to move Northwards and intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm on 26-5-2024 morning. It may cross Khepupara (Bangladesh) and adjoining West Bengal coasts near Sagar Island (India) on 27-5-2024 early morning.

PART TWO : Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay. Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay and cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST FOR AREAS BETWEEN LAT. 10.5°N – 16.5°N AND LONG. 92°E

WEATHER : Widespread rain or thundershowers.

VISIBILITY : 4 nautical miles but 1 nautical mile in rain.

SURFACE WIND : South or Southwest 15 – 20 kts at times 35-40 kts.

SEAS : Rough.

WAVE HEIGHT : 9-12 ft.

FORECAST FOR AREAS BETWEEN LAT. 16.5°N –20.5°N AND LONG. 92°E

WEATHER : Fairly widespread rain or thundershowers.

VISIBILITY : 4 nautical miles but 1 nautical mile in rain.
