SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Eastern Shan State, scattered in Kayah, Northern Shan States, fairly widespread in Bago, Upper Sagaing Regions and Chin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Lower Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 10.07 inches in Mawlamyine, 8.03 inches in Kawkareik, 7.21 inches in Madauk, 6.22 inches in Paung, 5.83 inches in Kyeikmayaw, 5.71 inches in Belin, 5.67 inches in Hainggyigyun, 5.55 inches in Shwekyin, 5.16 inches in Ye and 4.80 inches in Chaungsone. 

BAY INFERENCE:  Monsoon is vigorous over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal. Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 22nd August 2026: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region and Kayah, Northern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Lower Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions. Degree of certainty is 100%. 

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Mon, Shan states. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena. 

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35 mph. Squalls with rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph.Wave height will be about 11-13 feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and about 9-11 feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon, Eastern Shan States.
