Deep Depression Condition

          According to the observations at 10:30 hrs MST today, the Deep Depression over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal has moved West wards. It is centered at about 515 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Kyaukpyu (Myanmar), 75 Nautical miles East-Northeast of Visakhapatnam and 75 Nautical miles South of Gopalpur, India.

          It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Deep Depression is coded as yellow stage.

Position of Deep Depression, center pressure and wind

          The Depression is located at Latitude 18.0 degree North and Longitude 84.6 degree East, centre pressure of Depression is 994 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 35-40 miles per hour at 10:30 hrs MST today.

Next 18 hours forecast

          It is likely continue to move West-Northwestwards and cross the North Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha Coasts between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur close to Kalingapatnam (India) tonight.

General caution

          Due to the Deep Depression, rain or thundershowers are likely to be isolated to scattered in Kachin, Kayah, Shan States and fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and, Rakhine State during today noon to 25-9-2026.

          Occasional squalls with rough sea will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 35 mph. Wave height will be about 9-12 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

People should be awared the natural disasters such as the heavy rainfall with strong wind, thunder, Lightning strike, lightning, hails, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and to make necessary preparations for inland water transport, domestic flight and irrigation dams.
