Depression Condition

            According to the observations at 12:30 hrs MST today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over North Andaman Sea and adjoining Mottama, Mon-Taninthayi Coastal has moved North-Northwestwards and further intensified into a Depression. It is centered at about 50 Nautical miles South of Mawlamyine, 95 Nautical miles Southeast of Thongwa and 120 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Bago, Myanmar.

It present state of Depression is coded as red stage, it could cross near the Gulf of Mottama, Myanmar.

The Depression is located at Latitude 15.6 degree North and Longitude 97.6 degree East, centre pressure of Depression is 1002 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 35 miles per hour at 12:30 hrs MST today.

Next 48 hours forecast

            It is likely to move North-Northwestwards and may further intensify into a Deep Depression and it may cross between Yangon Region(Thongwa) and Mon State(Kyeikhto). Thereafter, continue to move  North-Northwestwards and continue to cross Yangon, Bago, Magway Regions.

General caution

            Due to the Depression, rain or thundershowers are likely to be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin, Mon, Rakhine, Southern Shan States with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls during today noon to 30-9-2026. Occassional squalls with rough sea will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 35-40 mph. Wave height will be about 10-12 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 25-30 mph. Wave height will be about 8-10 feet in off and along Rakhine Coasts.

Advisory

People should be awared the natural disasters such as the heavy rainfall with strong wind, thunder, Lightning strike, lightning, hails, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, coastal area and to make necessary preparations for inland water transport, domestic flight and irrigation dams.
