SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Taninthayi Region and Mon State, fairly widespread in Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayin State, scattered in Bago Region and isolated in Sagaing, Mandalay Regions and Kachin, Chin, Rakhine States and weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (2.98) inches in Kya-In-Seikkyi, (2.53) inches in Ye, (2.12) inches in Kataingti, (2.01) inches in Kyeikkhame, (1.50) inches in Kawthaung, (1.22) inches in Mudon, (1.18) inches in Sittwe, (1.10) inches in Hainggyigyun and (1.06) inches in Belin.

BAY INFERENCE:  Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay and East central Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is weak to moderate over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SPECIAL FEATURE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs MST today, the tropical storm “Nangka” over the Gulf of Tonkin is centered at about (65) nautical miles South-Southeast of Hanoi, Vietnam. It is forecast to move Westwards and will cross North Vietnam Coast today evening.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 15th October, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States, fairly widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions, scattered in Kachin State and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (5-8) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of scattered to fairly widespread rain or thundershowers in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah States.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 15th October, 2020:  Likelihood of isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is (60%).
