1-12-2025: According to the observations at 15:30 hrs MST today, the Deep Depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal, North Tamil Nadu- Puducherry coasts and South Andhra Pradesh coasts almost stationary and it is centered at about 750 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco Island(Myanmar), 75 Nautical miles Northeast of Puducherry (India) and 20 Nautical miles Southeast of Chennai(India). It is likely to move nearly Northwards parallel to North Tamil Nadu- Puducherry coasts and South Andhra Pradesh coasts(India) and gradually weaken into a Depression during next 12 hrs. Weather is generally fair over the Andaman Sea, cloudy over the Northwest Bay and Westcentral Bay and a few cloud to partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Depression

According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over the NorthBay of Bengal is centered at about (200) Nautical miles West of Maungdaw, (230) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Sittwe (Myanmar), (115) Nautical miles East- Southeast of Balasore, (85) Nautical miles East- Southeast of Digha, (60) Nautical miles East of Sagar Island (India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Depression is coded yellow stage.

Position of depression, center pressure and wind

The depression is located at Latitude (21.1) degree North and Longitude (88.9) degree East, centre pressure of depression is (994) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (38) miles per hour at (13:30)hrs MST today.

During next (24) hrs forecast

The depression is likely continuous to move West-Northwestwards andmay further intensify into a deep depression during next (6) hrs. It may corss to West Bengal and Odish coast between Balasore and Sagar Islands (India) duringnext (18) hrs.

General caution

Due to the depression, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Chin, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls and strong wind from today afternoon to (20.8.2022). Occasionally squall with rough seas will be experienced in Gulf of Mottama, Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (40) mph. Wave height will be about (9-13) feet in Gulf of Mottama, Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast.
