SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Magway Region and Chin, Northern Shan States. Rain or thundershowers has been isolated in Mandalay Region and Rakhine State, scattered in Sagaing Region, fairly widespread in Kachin, Eastern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions. Day temperatures 2°C below May average temperatures in Magway, Upper Sagaing Regions, 3°C to 4°C below May average temperatures in Kachin, Kayin, Rakhine, (Southern and Eastern) Shan States, 5°C to 6°C below May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago Regions and Kayah, Mon States and 7°C below May average temperature in Ayeyarwady Region and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were 40.4°C in Chauk, 40.0°C in Myingyan, 39.5°C in Myinmu, 38.8°C in Nyaung Oo, 38.5°C in Sinbyugyun, 38.4°C in Gangaw, 38.0°C each in Pakokku and Monywa, 37.2°C in Tada U(Avia-Met) and 37.0°C Sagaing on 15-5-2026. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 3.46 inches in Hinthada, 3.15 inches in Monywa, 2.68 inches in Chaungsone, 2.52 inches in Hpa-an(Agro-Met), 2.48 inches each in Mawlamyinegyun and Hainggyigyun, 2.44 inches in Kyeikkhame, 2.04 inches in Ingapu, 2.00 inches in Lemyethna and 1.97 inches each in Mawlamyine and Kyeikmayaw.

BAY INFERENCE: : Southwest monsoon has advanced into the Southern Myanmar areas, Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal. According to the observations at 13:30 hrs MST today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over the Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal still persists. Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal, weather is a few cloud over the North Bay of Bengal ‌and partly cloudy to cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 17th May 2026: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Mandalay, Magway, Lower Sagaing Regions and Chin, Rakhine States, scattered in Shan State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin, Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph. Wave height will be about 7-9 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet in off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuations of increase of rain in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States.
