17-2-2026:According to the observations at 17:30 hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure over the East Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move west–northwestwards and further intensify over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean on 18-2-2026. Weather is generally fair over the North Bay of Bengal, a few cloud over the Central Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Depression

          According to the observations at (18:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal has further intensified into a depression and located at Coast of West Bengal near Canning, India. It is forecast to move west wards. 

The present stage of the depression is coded yellow stage due to located at Coast of India. It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts.

Position of depression, Center pressure and wind

          Depression is located at Latitude (22.0) degree North and Longitude (88.5) degree East, Centre pressure of depression is (998) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is about (35)miles per hour at (18:30) hrs MST today.

General caution

           Squalls with moderate to rough sea are likely at times off and along Northern Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h.

Advisory

           Trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Northern Rakhine Coast are advised to avert in condition of depression.
