2-9-2025: According to the observations at 17:30 hrs M.S.T today, the Low Pressure Area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely  to further intensify during next 24 hours. Thereafter, it  is likely  to move  west-northwestwards and cross Odisha, India, during next 48 hours. Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

Tropical Storm (NONGFA) Condition
According to the observations at 07:30 hrs MST today, the Tropical Depression over the Tonkin Bay has moved Westwards and intensified into a Tropical Storm (NONGFA). It is centered at about 130 Nautical miles South-Southwest of Vinh, 110 Nautical miles East-Northeast of Da Nang (Vietnam).

The Tropical Storm (NONGFA) is located at Latitude 17.9 degree North and Longitude 107.9 degree East, centre pressure of Tropical Storm is 996 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 40 miles per hour at 07:30 hrs MST today.

Next 24 hours forecast

It is likely continue to move Westwards and to cross Vietnam Coast between Vinh and Da Nang during next 9 hours and reach on Lao then downgrad into a Tropical Depression during next 24 hours.

General Caution
    Due to the Tropical Storm(NONGFA), rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, Shan States with isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Magway, Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin, Mon States during 31-8-2025 to 3-9-2025. Occasional squalls with rough seas are will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35 mph.
