SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Rakhine State. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Magway Region and Kayah, Northern Shan States, scattered in Bago, Sagaing Regions and Kachin, Eastern Shan States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayin, Southern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady Region. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 3.54 inches in Maubin, 2.87 inches in Taunggu(Avia-Met), 2.28 inches in Kawthaung, 2.17 inches each in Dawei, Hpa-an(Agro-Met) and Tiddim, 2.09 inches in Hpa-an, 1.53 inches in Kyeikmayaw, 1.39 inches in Thaton, 1.34 inches in Yangon(Botahtaung) and 1.30 inches in Paung.

BAYINFERENCE:  Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Special Features: According to the observations at 12:30 hrs MST today, the Typhoon “TAPHA” has downgraded into a Severe Tropical Storm“TAPHA” over the Gaungdong, China. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and gradually weaken.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 9th September 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Magway Region and Kayah, Rakhine States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Bago, Sagaing Regions and Kachin, Shan States, fairly widespread in Ayeyarwady Region and Chin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing Yangon, Magway, Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Mon States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas  are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 25-30 mph. Wave height will be about 8-10 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet in off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Shan State.
