Depression Condition

According to the observations at 05:30 hrs MST today, the depression over the Northwest Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal(Off South Odisha-North Andhra Pradesh coasts, India) has moved Westwards and reached over Northwest Bay of Bengal close to South Odisha Coast. It is centered at about 420 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Sittwe (Myanmar), 35 Nautical miles Southwest of Puri, 35 Nautical miles East of Gopalpur and 100 Nautical miles Northeast of Kalingapatnam(India).

It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Depression is coded as yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

The Depression is located at Latitude 19.3 degree North and Longitude 85.5 degree East, centre pressure of Depression is 1000 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 30-35 miles per hour at 05:30 hrs MST today.

Next 6 hours forecast

It is likely to move nearly Westwards and may cross the South Odisha-North Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puri and Kalingapatnam close to Gopalpur during next 6 hours.

Due to the depression rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Kachin, Northern Shan States and fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, (Southern and Eastern)Shan States with isolated heavyfalls in some Regions and States from today morning to next 24 hours. Occassional squalls with rough sea will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35 mph. Wave height will be about 10-12 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

People should be awared the natural disasters such as the heavy rainfall with strong wind, thunder, Lightning strike, lightning, hails, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and to make necessary preparations for inland water transport, domestic flight and irrigation dams.
