SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers has been widespread in Shan State, fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region and Chin State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Sagaing Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon States and isolated in Yangon, Bago, Magway Regions and Kayah State and weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Taninthayi Region and Kachin, Kayin, Mon States, 2°C above May average temperatures in Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady Regions and 2°C below May average temperatures in (Northern and Eastern)Shan State and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were 41.5°C in Sinbyugyun, 41.4°C in Aunglan, 41.3°C each in Tharrawady and Myawaddy, 41.2°C in Chauk and 40.6°C each in Myingyan, Shwekyin, Pyay, Minbu and Hpa-an on 5-5-2026. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 1.81 inches in Mawlaik, 0.87 inch in Mogoke, 0.83 inch in Naungcho, 0.63 inch in Taunggyi, 0.59 inch each in Madauk, Kyaukmae and Mongyang, 0.55 inch in Pyinoolwin, 0.51 inch in Shwekyin and 0.47 inch each in Myeik, Namsan(Southern Shan) and Loilin.
BAY INFERENCE: Weather is a few cloud over the North Bay and Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 7th May 2026: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin, Northern Shan States, scattered in Lower Sagaing, Ayeyawady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, (Southern and Eastern)Shan States and isolated in the remaining Region and States. Degree of certainty is 80%.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon, (Northern and Eastern)Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be slight to moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 4-6 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of slight increase of day temperatures in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Lower Sagaing Regions.
