4-11-2025:  According to the observations at 05:30 hrs MST today, the low pressure area over the Eastcentral Bay and adjoining near Deltic coast, Myanmar has moved North-Northwestwards and now lies over the Eastcentral Bay and adjoining Northeast Bay of Bengal and off and along Rakhine coasts and adjoining Deltic coasts. It is likely continue to move North-Northwestwards and may reach over Northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining  off and along Rakhine coasts, Myanmar and coastal area of Bangladesh on 5-11-2025. Weather is cloudy over the Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and  Northeast Bay and a few cloud to partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Onset and withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon

Southwest monsoon is likely to set into the whole country during 27 May – 4 June, 2022. Southwest monsoon is likely to retreat from the whole country first week of October, 2022.

Early Monsoon Period Forecast

The early monsoon period is establishment of Southwest Monsoon over Myanmar to the end of June. Three low pressure areas may form over the Bay of Bengal and two may further intensify into the Depression. During the early monsoon period, monsoon will be moderate. Rain or thundershower will be expected about normal in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Tanintharyi Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States.

Mid Monsoon Period Forecast

     Mid Monsoon period is a period of starting from 1st July to the end of August. Four Low Pressure Areas may form over the Bay of Bengal and two may further intensify into the Depression. During the mid-monsoon period, monsoon will be moderate to strong.  Rain or thundershower will be expected below normal in Nay Pyi Taw, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States and about normal in Sagaing, Mandalay Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin States.

Late Monsoon Period Forecast

Late Monsoon period is a period starting from 1st September to the date of Monsoon withdrawal from the whole country. Three Low Pressure Areas may form over the Bay of Bengal and two may further intensify into the Depression. During the late monsoon period, monsoon will be weak to moderate.  Rain or thundershower will be expected about normal in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Tanintharyi Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States.
