 24-7-2025: According to the observations at 17:30 hrs MST today, the Low Pressure Area over North Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and further intensify into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal, India and Bangladesh Coasts during next 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move towards West Bengal and adjoining North Odisha Coasts, India during next 36 hours. Monsoon is vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

  1. According to the observations at (13:30) hrs M.S.T today, a low pressure area may form over the Southeast Bay of Bengal around (8.5.2023). It is likely to intensify into a Depression around (9.5.2023) then continue to move Northwards and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over the Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea around (10.5.2023). According to the Numerical Weather Prediction, Cyclonic Storm may reach near Deltaic Area and Rakhine coast and frequently squall with rough to very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, and off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (80-90) mph from (9.5.2023) to (14.5.2023).
  2. Currently, the storm has not yet started to form, so the track of the storm forecasts are varying based on the observation times, data and model. The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology will continue to issue the forecasts in time.

Advisory

  1. Under the influence of the Cyclonic Storm, people should be awared of strong wind, heavy rain, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and also domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts. Therefore, pepple should watch the forecasts of The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology and make the necessary preparations.
