7-1-2026  According to the observations at 13:00 hrs MST today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean has further intensified into Depreassion almost stationary. It is centered at about 650 Nautical miles South-Southwest of Coco- Island(Myanmar), 435 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Trincomalee(Sri Lanka) and 615 Nautical miles Southeast of Puducherry(Sri Lanka). Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and South Bay,  partly cloudy over the Eastcentral Bay and a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

10th Monsoon Forum in Nay Pyi Taw (3-5-2013)

The 10 th Monsoon Forum 2013 , organized as part of project “ Reducing risk of tsunamis, storm surges, large waves and other natural hazards i n low elevation coastal zones ” supported by UNESCAP and with technical assistance from WMO and RIMES, was held in Myat Taw Win Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw at 3 May , 2013. At the opening ceremony, Director General of Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, Dr Hrin Nei Thiam, delivered the welcome speech and Ms. Ruby Rose Policarpio, Institutional Development Specialist of RIMES has briefed about the Forum.

The Forum was focused on the verification of Meteorological and Hydrological forecasts for the last winter season, the present climate change situation in Myanmar, the general seasonal forecast for 2013 mo nsoon season, review on the agro-climatic condition and technical transfer of Weather and Climate products from RIMES and Earthquake Damage Assessment in Myanmar. Also the Forum discussed the summary of the actions taken from the various sectors on the forecasts and warnings issued by DMH. The discussion wa s carried out by three working groups. The monsoon forum was attended 50 partici pants from government institutions, research center, mass-based organizati on and media institution.
