Cyclonic Storm “YAAS”

                          According to the observations at (10:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “YAAS” over the EastcentralBay of Bengal remained stationary and it is centered at about (250) Nautical miles Northwestof Coco Island, about (290) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Pathein (Myanmar), about (290) Nautical miles Southeast of Paradip, about (335) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Digha(India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Cyclonic Storm “YAAS”is coded yellow stage.

Position of Cyclonic Storm “YAAS”, center pressure and wind

                          The Cyclonic Storm “YAAS” is located at Latitude (16.4) degree North and Longitude (89.7) degree East, centre pressure of depression is (992) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (55) miles per hour at (13:30) hrs MST today.

During next (24) hrs Forecast

                          The Cyclonic Storm “YAAS” is likely to move slowly North-Northwestwards and forecast to intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm “YAAS”  during next (12)hrs and the Severe Cyclonic Storm during next (24) hrs.

General caution

Due to the Cyclonic Storm “YAAS”, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Bago, Yangon and AyeyarwadyRegions, Rakhine States with isolated heavy falls in Bago, Yangon and AyeyarwadyRegions, Rakhine State during next (48)hrs commencing today morning.

Occasional squalls with very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40-45)m.p.h. Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (13 -17)feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast and about (9-13)feet in Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

Due to the Cyclonic Storm “YAAS”, people should be aware rain or thundershowers with strong wind and lightning and domastic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
