SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, scattered in Magway and Bago Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region, Rakhine and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Ayeyarwady Region and Kachin States. Day temperatures were (5°C) below May average temperature in Magway and Ayeyarwady Regions, Eastern Shan Chin and Kayin States, (3°C) to (4°C) below May average temperature in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay and Bago Regions, Kachin, Rakhine, Kayah and Mon States and about May average temperature in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were (35°C) in Bhamo, Moemate, Mandalay, Myingyan and Kyaukse. The observed highest Ultra Violet indexes were Naypyitaw (3.9), Yangon (9.8) and Mandalay (8.1). The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Dawei (5.39)inches, Sittwe (5.20)inches, Launglone (5.04)inches, Myeik (4.73)inches, Taungkok and Yay (4.13)inches each, Kyeikkhame (4.06)inches, Thandwe (3.98)inches, Kyaukphyu (3.85)inches, Labutta (3.46)inches, Machanbaw (3.15)inches, Kawthong (2.99)inches, Putao (2.83) inches, Hkamti (2.63)inches and Kyainseikkyi (2.55)inches.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman sea and Southeast Bay. Weather is cloudy over the east central Bay and partly cloudy elsewhere Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 24th May, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing Regions, Kachin, Shan, Chin and Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy fall in Taninthayi Region, Rakhine and Mon States and isolated heavy fall in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin States.
