SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Kayah State, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway and Bago Regions, Northern Shan State, fairly widespread in Yangon and Ayeyarwady  Regions, widespread in Naypyitaw, Taninthayi Region, Kachin, (Eastern and Southern)Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States with regionally heavy falls in Naypyitaw and isolated heavy falls in Kachin State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Naypyitaw(Walgyi) (4.21)inches, Machanbaw (3.03) inches, Puang (2.76)inches, Shwegyin (2.36)inches, Thaton (2.33)inches, Naypyitaw(Yezin) and Coco-Island  (2.19)inches each, Matub (2.09)inches, Putao and Mogaung (1.93)inches each, Kawkayeit (1.89)inches, Kyauktaw (1.85)inches and Naypyitaw(Zayarthiri) (1.81)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 25th August, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Kayah State and widespread in Naypyitaw, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Kachin, Shan, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainly is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-11)feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (5-7)feet in along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Naypyitaw, Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Kachin, Shan, Chin and Rakhine States.
