Deep Depression

According to the observations at (22:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “Asani” over West Central Bay of Bangal has moved Northwards and weaken into deep depression and reach to West Central Bay of Bengal (close to Andhra Pradesh Coast). It is centered at about (40) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Kakinada, (110) Nautical miles Southwest of Vishakhapatnam, (725) Nautical miles West of Hainggyigyun and (740) Nautical miles West of Gwa (Myanmar).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the deep depression is coded yellow stage.

Position of deep depression, center pressure and wind

            The deep depression is located at Latitude (16.5) degree North and Longitude (81.8) degree East, centre pressure of deep depression is (994) hPaand maximum wind speed near the center is (35-40) miles per hour at (22:30)hrs MST today.

During next (48) hrs forecast

The deep depression is forecast continuous to move North-Northeastwards and reach to Kakinada andTuni Coasts. It is likely to weaken into a depression around (12.5.2022)and into a well marked low pressure area around (13.5.2022).

General caution

Due to the deep depression, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, TaninthayiRegions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls in some Regions and States from tonight to (13.5.2022).Occasionally squall with rough seas will be in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (40) mph. Squall with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (30-35) mph. Wave height will be about (9-11) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast and (6-9) feet Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast.

Due to the deep depression, people should be aware rain or thundershowers with strong wind and domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships in off and along Myanmar Coasts.
