Depression
According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Northwest Bay of Bengal (off North Odisha and West Bengal coasts) has slightly moved to West-Northwestwards and intensified into a Depression over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal and North Odisha coasts. It is centered at about (260) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Maungdaw, (300) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Sittwe(Myanmar), (15) Nautical miles East- Northeast of Digha and (50) Nautical miles East- Northeast of Balasore(India).
It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Depression is coded yellow stage.
Position of depression, center pressure and wind
The depression is located at Latitude (21.7) degree North and Longitude (87.8) degree East, centre pressure of depression is (994) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (32) miles per hourat (13:30)hrs MST today.
During next (24) hrs forecast
The depression is likely continuous to move West-Northwestwards and will cross West Bengal coast and adjoining North Odisha coast near Digha, India during next (6) hrs and maintain the intensity of depression and move to the interior India until next (24).
General caution
Due to the depression, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine State with likelihood of isolated heavy falls from today noon to next (24) hrs. Occasional squalls with rough sea will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (40) mph. Wave height will be about (9-12) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast.
