Depression

According to the observations at (04:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Northeast Bay and adjoining Southeast Bangladesh coast-Northern part of Rakhine coast(Myanmar) moved to Northwestwards and intensified into a Depression over North Bay of Bengal. It is centered at about (140) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Maungdaw, (170) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Sittwe (Myanmar), (150) Nautical miles South- Southeast of Kolkata(India), (150) Nautical miles East- Southeast of Digha and (180) Nautical miles East- Southeast of Balasore (India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Depression is coded yellow stage.

Position of depression, center pressure and wind

The depression is located at Latitude (20.5) degree North and Longitude (89.9) degree East, centre pressure of depression is (999) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (38) miles per hour at (04:30)hrs MST today.

During next (24) hrs forecast

The depression is likely continuous to move West-Northwestwards and may cross West Bengal and North Odisha(India)during next (24)hrs.

General caution

Due to the depression, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Chin, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavy falls with strong wind during today morning to (20.8.2022).

People should be awared the heavy rainfall with strong wind, the natural disasters such as flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and inland water transport and domestic flight.
