Depression

According to the observations at (12:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean. It is intensified into a Depression now lies over Southwest Bay of Bengal and centered at about (580) Nautical miles Southwest of Coco –Island, (690) Nautical miles Southwest of Hainggyigyun(Myanmar), (225) Nautical miles East-Northeast of Trincomalee(Sri Lanka), (350) Nautical miles East-Southeast of Nagappattinam and (400) Nautical miles Southeast of Chennai(India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Depression is coded yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

            The Depression is located at Latitude (9.0) degree North and Longitude (85.0) degree East, centre pressure of Depression is (1004) hPaand maximum wind speed near the center is (30-35) miles per hour at (12:30)hrs MST today.

During next (48) hrs forecast

Due to the Depressionlikely to move North-Northwestwards during next (24)hrs. It is recurved West-Southwestwards and it is likely tocross Sri Lanka coasts around (25.12.2022).

General caution

Due to the Depression, rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, AyeyarwadyRegions and Shan (Southand East), Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States States from this noon to next (72) hrs. Squalls with moderate to rough sea are likely at time off and along Myanmar Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (30-35) mph. Wave height will be about (6-9) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

Due to the Depression, people should be awaredthe rainfall with strong wind, thunderstorms, and domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and alongMyanmar Coasts .
