Depression

          According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the depression over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal has moved Northwards and lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha Coast (India). It is centered at about (80) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Paradip and about (175) Nautical miles South- Southwest of Sagar Islands (India), about (255) Nautical miles South- Southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh) and about(320) Nautical miles West- Southwest of Maungdaw (Myanmar).  It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the depression is coded yellow stage.

 Position of depression, center pressure and wind

          Depression is located at Latitude (19.0) degree North and Longitude (87.0) degree East, centre pressure of depression is (1000) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (35) miles per hour at (17:30) hrs MST today.

During next (48)hrs Forecast

          The depression is likely to intensify into a deep depression during next (24)hrs and move North-Northeastwards. It is forecast to cross West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh coast between Sagar Islands and Khepupara on 23rd October afternoon/ evening.

General caution

Due to the depression, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions Kachin, Chin and Rakhine States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls and squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (7-10) feet Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts during today night to (24.10.2020).

            Due to the depression, people should be aware heavy rainfall with
 strong wind, flash flood and landslide near the hilly areas and also small rivers.
