Depression

According to the observations at (10:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over the NorthBay of Bengal is centered at about (160) Nautical miles West of Maungdaw, (190) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Sittwe (Myanmar), (155) Nautical miles East- Southeast of Balasore, (130) Nautical miles East- Southeast of Digha, (100) Nautical miles Southeast of Sagar Island (India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Depression is coded yellow stage.

Position of depression, center pressure and wind

The depression is located at Latitude (20.6) degree North and Longitude (89.5) degree East, centre pressure of depression is (994) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (38) miles per hour at (10:30)hrs MST today.

During next (24) hrs forecast

The depression is likely continuous to move West-Northwestwards and it may further intensify into a deep depression over North Bay of Bengal next (6)hrs and corss to west Bengal and Odish coast between Balasore and Sagar Islands, (India)duringnext (18)hrs.

General caution

Due to the depression, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Chin, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls and isolated heavy falls from today Morning to (20.8.2022). Occasionally squall with rough seas will be experienced in off and along Myanamr Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (40) mph in off and along Myanamr Coast. Wave height will be about (9-13) feet in Myanamr Coast.

Due to the depression, people should be aware strong wind with regionally heavyfalls and isolated heavyfallsand domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships in off and along Myanmar Coasts.
