1-11-2025: According to the observations at 15:30 hrs MST today, a low pressure area has formed over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal. Weather is a few cloud over the Westcentral Bay and Southwest Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

· Depression Condition

According to the observations at 15:30 hrs MST today, the Depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal still persists. It is centered at about 340 Nautical miles Southwest of Coco Island (Myanmar), 510 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Chennai(India), 530 Nautical miles Southeast of Kakinada (India).

It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Depression is coded as yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

The Depression is located at Latitude 10.8 degree North and Longitude 88.7 degree East, centre pressure of Depression is 1002 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 30 miles per hour at 15:30 hrs MST today.

Next 48 hours forecast

It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may intensify into a deep depression on 26-10-2025 and Cyclonic Storm may form over the Southwest Bay and adjoining over Westcentral Bay of Bengal on 27-10-2025.

Due to the depression, rain or thundershowers will be scattered to fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region, Chin and Rakhine States, isolated to scattered in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Mon and Shan States from today evening  to 27-8-2025. Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 25-30 mph. Wave height will be about 7-9 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Sea will be slight to moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 4-6 feet in off and along Rakhine Coast.

People should be awared the natural disasters such as the heavy rainfall with strong wind, thunder, Lightning strike, lightning, hails, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and to make necessary preparations for inland water transport, domestic flight and irrigation dams.
