Depression

          According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the depression over Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha Coast (India) has moved North-Northeastwards. It is centered at about (80) Nautical miles South- Southwest of Sagar Islands (India), about (165) Nautical miles West- Southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh) and about (260) Nautical miles West- Southwest of Maungdaw (Myanmar). 

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the depression is coded yellow stage.

 Position of depression, center pressure and wind

          Depression is located at Latitude (20.4) degree North and Longitude (87.8) degree East, centre pressure of depression is (1000) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (35) miles per hour at (05:30) hrs MST today.

During next (48)hrs Forecast

          It is forecast to move North-Northeastwards and adjoining Bangladesh coast between Sagar Islands and Khepupara today evening.

General caution

Due to the depression, rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay and Magway Regions, fairly widespread to widespread in Sagaing Region, Kachin, Chin and Rakhine States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls and occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (9-11) feet off and along Rakhine Coasts during today morning to next (48)hrs.

          Due to the depression, people should be aware heavy rainfall with strong wind, flash flood and landslide near the hilly areas and also small rivers.
