Depression

          According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the depression over Northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal (India)- Bangladesh Coasts has moved North-Northeastwards. It is centered at about (30) Nautical miles Southeast of Sagar Islands (India), about (110) Nautical miles Southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh) and about (225) Nautical miles West of Maungdaw (Myanmar). 

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the depression is coded yellow stage.

Position of depression, center pressure and wind

          Depression is located at Latitude (21.3) degree North and Longitude (88.4) degree East, centre pressure of depression is (1000) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (35) miles per hour at (12:30) hrs MST today.

During next (06)hrs Forecast

          It is forecast to move North-Northeastwards and it may cross to West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh coast(India) between Sagar Islands and Khepupara today evening.

General caution

Due to the depression, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Kachin, Chin and Rakhine States, with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavy falls and occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (9-11) feet off and along Rakhine Coasts during today morning to next (24)hrs.

          Due to the depression, people should be aware heavy rainfall with strong wind, flash flood and landslide near the hilly areas and also small rivers.
