Depression Condition

According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over Westcentral Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal (off North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha, India) moved North-Northwestwards. It is centered at about 585 Nautical miles West-Northwest of Hainggyigyun, 575 Nautical miles West  of  Thandwe (Myanmar), 65 Nautical miles East of Vishakhapatnam, 85 Nautical miles South-Southwest of Gopalpur and 25 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Kalingapatnam (India).

Since it is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Depression is coded as yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

The Depression is located at Latitude 18.0 degree North and Longitude 84.3 degree East, centre pressure of Depression is 998 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 35-40 miles per hour at (17:30) hrs MST today.

During next (12) hrs forecast

The Depression is likely to move Northwestwards and cross north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha coasts between Vishakhapatnam and Gopalpur close to Kalingapatnam (India) during next 12 hrs.

General caution

Under the influence of depression, squalls with moderatr to rough seas are likely at times in off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 30-35 mph and wave height will be about 8-10 feet.

Advisory

            Under the influence of depression, strong wind may occur off and along Myanmar Coasts and therefore trawlers, vessels and ships should be awared in advance.
