1-12-2025: According to the observations at 10:30 hrs MST today, the Deep Depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal, North Tamil Nadu- Puducherry coasts and South Andhra Pradesh coasts(India) is centered at about 750 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco Island(Myanmar), 75 Nautical miles Northeast of Puducherry (India) and 20 Nautical miles Southeast of Chennai(India). It is likely to move nearly Northwards parallel to North Tamil Nadu- Puducherry coasts and South Andhra Pradesh coasts(India) and gradually weaken into a Depression during next 12 hrs. Weather is generally fair over the Andaman Sea, cloudy over the Westcentral Bay and a few cloud to partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

According to the observations at (21:30)hrs M.S.T today, the deep depression is moving to Ayeyarwady Region, near Patheinhas weaken into a depression and it is movingNorth-Northeastwards.

            It is continuous to movingAyeyarwady Region, near Pathein(Myanmar), the present stage of the depression is coded brown stage.

 

During next (24) hrs forecast

            The depression is likely continuous to move North-Northeastwards and it is forecast to weaken gradually into a well marked low pressure area in the morning at (23.3.2022) and reachnear Southern Rakhine Coast.

 

General caution

  1. Due to the depression, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, TaninthayiRegions and Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States with regionally and isolated heavy falls in some Regions and States during  tonight  to (24.3.2022).
  2. Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (8-12) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
  3. During the depressionis continuous moving to Ayeyarwady Region near Pathein, maximum wind speedmay reach (40) mph in Ayeyarwady Region and (25-30) mph in Yangon Region and Southern Rakhine Coast.
  4. When the depression is crossing, storm surge height will be (6)ft to (8)ft in Estuary and Tributaries at Pathein District, Labutta District, Myaungmya District, Maubin District, Phyarpon District, Ayeyarwady Region.

Advisory                                                               

Due to the depression, people should be aware rain or thundershowers with strong wind, lightning, flash floods in small streams and mountain streams and landslides in the mountainous areas and domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships in off and along Myanmar Coasts.
