9-1-2026: According to the observations at 17:30 hrs MST today, the Deep Depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved Northwestwards. It is centered at about 835 Nautical miles Southwest of Coco-Island (Myanmar), 115 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka) and 340 Nautical miles Southeast of Puducherry(Sri Lanka). It is likely to move Northwestwards and may cross North Sri Lanka coast between Trincomalee and Jaffna during next 18 hours.Weather is a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea, North Bay and Eastcentral Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
A slight earthquake of magnitude (4.1) Richter Scale with its epicenter inside Myanmar (about (8) miles east-southeast of Thabeikkyin), latitude 22.84°N, longitude 96.10°E, depth (12)kilometers about (45) miles northeast of Kanbalu seismological observatory was recorded at (16)hr (11)min (54)sec M.S.T on 22nd August, 2019.
