27-10-2025:According to the observations at 15:30 hrs MST today, the Cyclonic Storm “MONTHA” over the Southwest Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal has moved Northwestwards and still persists. It is centered at about 530 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco Island (Myanmar), 240 Nautical miles East of Chennai(India), 260 Nautical miles Southeast of Kakinada (India). It is likely to move North-Northwestwards and intensify into Severe Cyclonic Storm on 28-10-2025 and cross Andhra Pradesh Coast on that night.Weather is a few cloud to partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea, North Bay and Eastcentral Bay and cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Onset and withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon

Southwest monsoon is likely to set into the whole country during (9th  – 14th of June), 2024. Southwest monsoon is likely to retreat from the whole country 1st week of October, 2024.

Early Monsoon Period Forecast

The early monsoon period is establishment of Southwest Monsoon over Myanmar to the end of June. Two Low Pressure Areas may form over the Bay of Bengal and one may further intensify into the Depression. During the early monsoon period, monsoon will be weak to moderate. Rain will be expected  below normal in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States and about normal in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State.

Mid Monsoon Period Forecast

Mid Monsoon period is a period of starting from 1st July to the end of August. Three Low Pressure Areas may form over the Bay of Bengal and two may further intensify into the Depressions. During the mid-monsoon period, monsoon will be moderate to strong. Rain or thundershower will be expected above normal in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin, Chin, Rakhine States and about normal in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Shan, Kayah, Kayin, Mon  States.

Late Monsoon Period Forecast

Late Monsoon period is a period starting from 1st September to the date of Monsoon withdrawal from the Whole Country. Three Low Pressure Areas may form over the Bay of Bengal and one may further intensify into the Depression. During the late monsoon period, monsoon will be moderate. Rain will be expected about normal in Upper Sagaing, Bago Regions and Kachin, Northern Shan, Chin, Kayah States, expected above normal in Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States and expected below normal in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Rehions and (Southern and Eastern) Shan States.
