20-4-2024 Weather is partly cloudy over the South Andaman Sea, South Bay and Westcentral Bay and a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Issued at (11:00) hours M.S.T on 20-10-2022

According to the observations at (10:00)hrs M.S.T today, a low pressure area has formed over the Andaman Sea and adjoining the Southeast Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and intensify into a Depression over the Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining the Southeast Bay of Bengal around (22.10.2022) and into a Cyclonic Storm  over Westcentral Bay of Bengal around (24.10.2022).

General caution

Due to the low pressure area, likelihood of fairly widespread to widespread rain or thundershower in Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Chin, Rakhine States, isolated to scattered rain or thundershower in Naypyitaw, Madalay Region and Kayin, Mon States with regionally and isolated heavyfalls in some regions. Occasionally squall with rough seas will be experience off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (40) mph. Wave height will be about (9-13) feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.

Therefore, due to the speed of the Low Pressure Area, strong wind and rain accompanied by rain and thundershower may occur. People should be awared domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
