SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers have been fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Rakhine State and isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Magway, Bago and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States.The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were Kyaukpyu (8.11)inches, Thandwe (6.77)inches, Shwekyin and Shwegone (3.90)inches each, Myeik (3.31)inches, Sittwe (3.15)inches, Paung (3.11)inches, Kyeikkhame (2.99)inches, Thaton (2.84) inches, Nyaunglaybin (2.79)inches, Hpa-an (2.72)inches, Madauk and Launglon (2.68)inches each and Zalun (2.64) inches.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 26th AUGUST, 2018: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Kayah State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States, isolated heavy falls in Bago and Yangon Regions.
