15-10-2024:According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the well marked low pressure area over South Bay of Bengal has moved West-Northwestwards and reached over Southwest Bay and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to continue to move West-Northwestwards and may further intensify into a depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal during next (12) hrs and may reach to North Tamil Nadu and adjoining South Andhra Pradesh coasts, India around 17-10-2024 morning.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Kachin State, fairly widespread in Yangon Region and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Magway, Bago and Yangon Regions, Chin, Rakhine and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Upper Sagaing and Taninthayi Regions. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Belin (9.10)inches, Maungdaw (8.81)inches, Kyauktaw (8.39)inches, Ann (8.03)inches, Hakha (7.13)inches, Sittwe (6.49)inches, Kyaukpyu (6.18)inches, Shwegyin (5.51)inches, Madauk (4.72)inches, Launglon (4.69)inches, Taungkok (4.45)inches, Bago (4.36)inches, Manaung (4.13)inches, Falam (4.09)inches, Theinzayet (3.94)inches and Sinphyugyun (2.17)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30) hrs MST today, the deep depression over Bengladesh continues to move Northwest wards and weaken gradually next (12) hours commencing noon today. Monsoon is strong to Vigorous in the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 1st August, 2015: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Kachin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Magway Region, Chin and Rakhine States and isolated heavy falls in Sagaing, Bago, Yangon and Taninthayi Regions and Mon State. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of Strong monsoon.
