15-10-2024:According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the well marked low pressure area over South Bay of Bengal has moved West-Northwestwards and reached over Southwest Bay and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to continue to move West-Northwestwards and may further intensify into a depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal during next (12) hrs and may reach to North Tamil Nadu and adjoining South Andhra Pradesh coasts, India around 17-10-2024 morning.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Sagaing and Magway Regions, Chin State, scattered in Mandalay Region, Shan and Rakhine States, fairly widespread in Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Mandalay and Bago Regions. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Paung (5.67)inches, Hpa-an (5.35)inches, Hlaingbwe (5.04)inches, Thaton (4.10)inches, Belin (3.82)inches, Bago (3.03)inches, Minesat (2.72)inches and Naypyitaw (Zabuthiri)  (1.65)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong in the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere in the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 4th August, 2015: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing and Magway Regions, Chin State, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Shan and Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Yangon and Taninthayi Regions, Shan, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough sea are likely at times Gulf of Mottama,  off and along  Mon – Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35 - 40) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of decrease of rain in the Central Myanmar areas.
