SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing and Magway Regions, scattered in Upper Sagaing Region and Chin State, fairly widespread in Mandalay and Bago Regions and Kachin and Northern Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region and isolated heavy falls in Napyitaw, Ayeyarwady Region and Mon State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were Launglon (10.87)inches, Hainggyigyun (9.84)inches, Dawei (9.33)inches, Myeik (6.85)inches, Yay (4.61)inches, Laiway (3.15)inches, Kawthaung (1.97)inches, Namsam (1.89)inches, Loilin (1.81)inches, Kengtung and Hpaan (1.37)inches each.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is vigorous over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SPECIAL FEATURES: According to the observations at (13:30) MST today, the tropical storm “Son-tinh” over the South China Sea, its centered at about (163)miles Southeast  of  Hanoi (Vietnam) and it is forecast to move Westwards.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 19th JULY, 2018: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Lower Sagaing Region, scattered in Upper Sagaing and Magway Regions, Chin State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region, Kachin, (Northern and Southern) Shan and Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (10 - 14) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama and off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (5 - 7) feet in off and along Rakhine Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine State.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 19th JULY, 2018: One or two rain or thundershowers.  Degree of certainty is (100%).

FORECAST FOR YANGON AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 19th JULY, 2018: Some rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is (100%).
