SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hrs, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Kayin and Mon States, fairly widespread in Ayeyarwady Region, scattered in Bagon, Yangon and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Southern Shan and Kayah States, isolated in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay Regions with isolated heavy falls in Mon State and weather have been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were (4°C) above May average temperatures in Ayeyarwady Region, (2°C) above May average temperatures in Bago and Yangon Region, Rakhine States, (2°C) below May average temperature in Saging Region, (3°C) below May average temperature in Eastern Shan State and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperature were (41°C) in Chauk, (39°C) each in Naypyitaw (Yezin), Minbu, Ann, Taunggu and Hinthada. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Chaungsone (3.54)inches, Paung (2.83)inches, Myawady (2.32)inches, Nyaunglaybin (1.69)inches, Kyeikkhame (1.61)inches, Shwegyin (1.54)inches, Machanbaw (1.22)inches, Mudon (1.06)inches and Ngathaichaung (0.94)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay and weather is partly cloudy to cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 20th May, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Yangon and Taninthayi Regions, Mon State, scattered in Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin, Rakhine and Kayin States, isolated in Upper Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Shan (East and South), Chin and Kayah States. Degree of certainly is (80%). Weather will be partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States.

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h.  Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar water.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of rain or thundershowers in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayah State.
