SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hrs, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Ayeyarwady Region,  scattered in Lower Sagaing and Magway Regions, Northern Shan, Chin and Rakhine States, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing, Bago and Yangon Regions and Kachin State, widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Naypyitaw and Mandalay Region, isolated heavy falls in Lower Sagaing Region. Day temperatures were about May average temperatures in Taninthayi Region and Kachin State, (2°C) above May average temperatures in Lower Sagaing Region and Northern Shan State, (3°C) to (4°C) above May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions and Eastern Shan, Rakhine and Mon States, (5°C) to (6°C) above May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperature were (43°C) in Bawlakhae, (42°C) in Chauk, (41°C) each in Minbu and Gangaw. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Pyinmana(Wegyi) (3.94)inches, Naypyitaw(Airport-Ela) (3.90)inches, Hlaingdet (2.91)inches, Kengtung (2.64)inches, Myinmu (2.60)inches, Minesat, Nyaungswe and Pyawbwe (2.56)inches each, Kamamaung (2.20)inches, Nyapyitaw(Zabuthiri) and Myeik (2.16)inches each, Kawthong (2.13)inches, Meikhtila (2.05) inches, Myingyan and Hlaingbwe (2.01)inches each and Heho (1.97)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over Southeast Bay and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to further intensify into a depression during next (48)hrs. Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal. Weather is a partly cloudy over the North Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 27th May, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Shan State and scattered in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Mon State. Degree of certainly is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h.  Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar water.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of Southwest Monsoon advancement into the Deltaic areas.  

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 27th May, 2017: Isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainly is (80%).
