SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, Southwest monsoon has advanced into the Central Myanmar areas and East Central Bay of Bengal.  Rain or thundershowers have been fairly widespread in Northern Shan and Kayin States, widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, (Southern & Eastern)Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah and Mon States with regionally heavy falls in Sagaing, Magway, Bago and Yangon Regions, Chin and Rakhine States. Day temperatures were (2°C) above May average temperature in Kayin State,  (8°C) below May average temperature in Magway Region, (5°C) below May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing Region and Chin State, (3°C) to (4°C) below May average temperatures in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayah State, (2°C) below May average temperatures in Taninthayi Region, (Southern & Eastern)Shan States and about May average temperatures in Kachin, Northern Shan, Rakhine and Mon States. The significant day temperature were (36°C) in Bhamo, (35°C) each in Katha and Kawkayeit. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Sittwe (6.57)inches, North Dagon (6.22)inches, Mindat and Hakha (5.27)inches each, Saw and Bago (4.42)inches each,  Hlegu (4.17)inches, Maungdaw (3.70)inches,  Kyaukhtu (3.60)inches, Hmawbi (3.54)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the severe cyclonic storm “MORA” over North Bay of Bengal has crossed to the Coasts of  Bangladesh between Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar. Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay, vigorous over East Central Bay of Bengal. Weather is cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 31st May, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be  widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Chin, Rakhine and Mon States, fairly widespread in Shan, Kayah and Kayin States with regionally heavy falls in Sagaing, Magway Regions, Chin and Rakhine States and isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions and Mon State. Degree of certainly is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (45) m.p.h. 

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of thundery activities in Northern Myanmar areas.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 31st May, 2017: One or two rain or thundershowers.  Degree of certainly is (100%).

FORECAST FOR YANGON AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 31st May, 2017: Intermittent rain or thundershowers which may be heavy falls. Degree of certainly is (100%).
