16-11-2025:  According to the observations at 15:30 hrs MST today, the low pressure area over the Southwest Bay of Bengal(off Sri Lanka Coast) still persists. It is likely to move slowly West-Northwestwards during the next 24 hours. Weather a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea and North Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers has been scattered in Taninthayi Region, (Northern and Eastern) Shan State, isolated in Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Kachin, Southern Shan and Chin States and weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Night temperatures were (2°C) above December average temperature in Kayin State, (3°C) to (4°C) above December average temperatures in Magway, Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin, (Southern and Eastern) Shan, Rakhine, Kayah and Mon States, (5°C) to (6°C) above December average temperatures in Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Northern Shan and Chin States and about December average temperature in Yangon and Taninthayi Regions. The significant night temperatures were (8°C) in Putao, (9°C) each in Heho and Loilin. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Kawthaung (0.67)inch and Bhamo (0.08)inch.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “PHETHAI” over the Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards and now lies over the Southwest Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal. It is centered at about (230) miles Southeast of Chennai (India), about (310) miles Southeast of Machilipatnam and about (255) miles Northeast of Triconmalee (Sri Lanka). Weather is cloudy over the Southwest Bay and Westcentral Bay and partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere in the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 17th December, 2018: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Upper Sagaing and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Northern Shan and Chin States, isolated in Lower Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, (Southern and Eastern) Shan, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (80%). Weather will be partly cloudy in remaining Regions and States.

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (6-9) feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of scattered to fairly widespread rain or thundershowers in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin, Northern Shan and Chin States.
