SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Bago, Yangon and Taninthayi Regions, Eastern Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw and Ayeyarwady Region, Southern Shan and Rakhine States, scattered in Mandalay Region, Northern Shan and Chin States, isolated in Sagaing and Magway Regions, Kachin State with regionally heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Yangon Region and Mon State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Yangon (North Dagon) (9.21)inches, Kyeikkhame (4.25)inches, Yay (4.09)inches, Yangon(Kaba-aye) (3.94)inches, Central Yangon (3.90) inches, Chaungsone (3.23)inches, Yangon (Mingaladon) (2.99)inches and Myeik (2.91)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak to moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 6th June, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions and Mon State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region, Rakhine, Kayah and Kayin States, scattered in Sagaing and Magway Regions, Kachin, Shan and Chin States with isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Mon State. Degree of certainly is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (6 - 9) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, Mon and Taninthayi Coasts about (4 - 6) feet in Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of strong monsoon  over the Andaman Sea and South Bay.
