SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region, Shan (North and South) State, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Taninthayi Region, fairly widespread in Yangon Region, Kayin and Mon States, scattered in Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayah State, isolated in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Kachin, Eastern Shan, Chin and Rakhine States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Kawthong (5.24)inches, Dawei (3.82)inches, Kyarinseikgyi (2.60)inches, Kyeikkhame (2.28) inches, Launglone (2.24)inches, Yay (2.09)inches, Yangon (Kaba -Aye) (1.81)inches, Myeik (1.65)inches, Phyarpon (1.49)inches and Naypyitaw Airport (Ela) (1.37)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak to moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 7th June, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region and Mon State, fairly widespread in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin  State, scattered in Kayah  State and isolated in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Kachin, Shan, Chin and Rakhine States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Taninthayi Region and Mon State. Degree of certainly is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (6 - 9) feet in Gulf of Mottama and Mon-Taninthayi Coasts, about (4 - 6) feet in Deltaic and Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of strong monsoon over the Andaman Sea and South Bay.
