SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing Region, Northern Shan and Chin States, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway and Bago Regions and Rakhine State, scattered in Ayeyarwady Region, fairly widespread in Yangon Region and Southern Shan State and widespread in Taninthayi Region, Kachin, Eastern Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon  States with isolated heavy falls in Kachin State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Myitkyina (3.10)inches, Belin (2.20)inches, Machanbaw (1.89)inches, Putao (1.70)inches and Mogaung (1.54) inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is weak to moderate over the North Bay and moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 23rd September, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing Region and Chin State, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Shan (North and East), Rakhine and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Bago Region and Southern Shan State and widespread in Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Ayeyarwady Region, Kachin  and Mon States. Degree of certainly is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-10)feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (4-8)feet in along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of withdrawal Southwest monsoon from Northern Myanmar area.

FORECAST FOR MANDALAY AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 23rd September, 2017: Isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainly is (100%).

WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR WEEKEND: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Yangon Region, scattered in Naypyitaw and Mandalay Region.
