SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers have been fairly widespread in Sagaing and Magway Regions, Kachin State and widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with regionally heavy falls in Magway and Yangon Regions and isolated heavy falls in Bago Region. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Hmawbi (4.25)inches, Bago (3.78)inches, Central Yangon (3.08)inches, Khayan (2.95)inches, Phyu (2.91)inches, Minkin (2.68)inches, Shwegyin (2.48)inches and Nyaunglaybin (2.36)inches.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 18thAugust, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Kachin, Shan and Chin States, and widespread in Naypyitaw, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainly is (80%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon -Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) to (40)m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-11)feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, along Mon - Taninthayi Coast and (5 - 7) feet in along Rakhine Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Strong monsoon in Andaman sea and South Bay of Bangal.
