SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Upper Sagaing Region, scattered in Lower Sagaing and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Kachin, Eastern Shan, Chin and Rakhine States and widespread in Mandalay, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, (Northern and Southern)Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with regionally heavy falls in Magway Region and Mon State, isolated heavy falls in Yangon Region and Kayin State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Thaton (5.00)inches, Belin (4.17)inches, Yay (3.58)inches, Thandaunggyi (3.54)inches, Minbu (3.51)inches, Magway (3.47) inches, Coco-Island and Theinzayet (3.03)inches each, Paung and Chaungsone (2.87)inches each, Thipaw (2.75)inches, Kyeikkhame (2.40)inches, Phyu and Hpa-an (2.32)inches each and Machanbaw (2.28)inches.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and generally moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 22ndAugust, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Sagaing Region, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Kachin, (Northern and Eastern)Shan and Chin States, widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Southern Shan, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Mon State and isolated heavy falls in Magway, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin State. Degree of certainly is (80%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-11)feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (5-7)feet in along Rakhine Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Rakhine State.
