SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Eastern Shan State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Kachin and Northern Shan States and widespread in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Southern Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with regionally heavy falls in Lower Sagaing and Mandalay Regions and isolated heavy falls in Magway and Ayeyarwady Regions. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Hainggyigyun (5.00)inches, Wundwin (3.28) inches, Hlaingtat (2.24)inches, Phyarpon (2.17)inches, Thazi (2.13)inches, Kyaukbataung (2.12)inches, Kanbalu (2.00)inches, Taungkok (1.97)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 22ndAugust, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Shan and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Kayin and Mon States and widespread in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Chin and Rakhine States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Rakhine State.
